CARDIFF — Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are scheduled to meet on December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with the vacant WBA 'super' heavyweight title on the line. The bout, which has been in development for a decade, remains subject to ongoing uncertainty despite the official announcement of the date and venue.
Carl Froch, speaking on his YouTube channel, identified Fury as the favorite for the contest. Froch pointed to Fury’s recent unanimous decision victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov and a seventh-round stoppage of Mariusz Wach as evidence of his form. “I think Tyson Fury’s got the edge – he looked good against Makhmudov. He had a move around, did what he needed to do, got 12 rounds in the bank,” Froch stated.
In contrast, Froch expressed concerns regarding Joshua’s recent performances, specifically citing a July bout against Kristian Prenga where Joshua survived two knockdowns before securing a second-round finish. Froch also referenced Joshua's fifth-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. “Anthony Joshua – he’s looked terrible. But it’s going to be difficult for him to beat Tyson Fury,” Froch added.
The status of the event remains fluid, with reports indicating the matchup could still be in jeopardy despite the existing contracts. This potential instability follows previous industry skepticism regarding the viability of the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua to Contest Vacant WBA 'Super' Title showdown.
