DEBRECEN — The Republic of Ireland beat Israel 3-0 in their controversial UEFA Nations League Group B3 fixture at the neutral Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary. Heimir Hallgrimsson's side secured the victory with goals from Troy Parrott, Adam Idah and Jack Moylan.

The result was overshadowed by the charged pre-match atmosphere. Players from both sides did not shake hands before kick-off and there was no exchange between Ireland captain Dara O'Shea and Israel's Manor Solomon. Ireland players also appeared to bow their heads while Israel's national anthem was played.

Ireland players wore black armbands for the fixture, which Football Association of Ireland chief executive David Courell said was a gesture to recognise "all lives lost" in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was the only player who chose not to play after the squad voted to proceed with the match on Saturday amid calls for the game not to go ahead.

On the pitch, Parrott, Idah and Moylan delivered the decisive goals to seal the three points for Ireland. Moylan celebrated his strike by kissing and raising his black armband before kissing his badge.
