LIVERPOOL — Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia, and Croatia. The 24-year-old’s return to the international setup follows a rigorous rehabilitation program in Germany designed to resolve a series of hamstring and groin injuries that limited him to 10 appearances last season.
To address his physical setbacks, Branthwaite spent three weeks at the MYOS sports and health clinic in Munich during the summer. The defender credited the facility’s holistic approach, which examined the intersection of movement patterns and neurological function, as the turning point in his recovery. “It was to look at the wider picture, look at the holistic approach of the body essentially,” Branthwaite said. “There were a lot of different things looked at like movement patterns, the brain; it was quite complex, but fingers crossed it has worked.”
Branthwaite, who was previously sidelined after sustaining a hamstring injury during a Merseyside derby defeat in April, has been ever-present for Everton this season. Reflecting on his return to the national team, he added, “It is a proud moment. Over the last season or so it has been a target of mine. I believe I am good enough to be in the England squad so hopefully I can show that.”
