COPENHAGEN — Denmark beat Wales 2-0 in Copenhagen to leave Wales bottom of UEFA Nations League Group A4 after two second-half set-piece goals decided the contest.
Wales were second best throughout the first half and fortunate to reach the break level, before Denmark's pressure told after the interval. Mikkel Damsgaard delivered the cross for both goals, with Ben Davies turning the first into his own net and Gustav Isaksen adding a second with a deflected strike.
The defeat is Wales' second consecutive loss in the group without scoring a goal, following Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Portugal. It leaves them without a point and already facing an uphill battle to avoid relegation. Denmark, beaten by Norway on Thursday and under similar pressure, responded and could have won more comfortably.
Wales face Norway and Erling Haaland on Thursday in their third Nations League match, while Norway play Portugal later on Sunday. Elsewhere in the Nations League, world champions Spain won 3-2 against England at Wembley despite goals from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane, and Scotland were held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia in Sebastien Pocognoli's first game as manager.
