CHARLOTTE — Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks is sidelined again with a groin injury and is considered week-to-week while seeking additional medical opinions, according to Tom Pelissero. Brooks tweaked the same groin injury he suffered in training camp during Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Brooks was limited throughout training camp because of the groin issue, though the Panthers said before Week 1 that he would have no limitations. Injuries have severely limited Brooks throughout his NFL career. Carolina drafted him in the second round in 2024 even though he was still recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee suffered in his final college game, then he tore the same ACL again as a rookie.
Brooks did not play at all in 2025 after the second ACL tear. The first running back selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, Brooks is now in his third season and has still never gained a single rushing first down, totaling just 52 yards on 18 carries in his career.
