Kyle Shanahan Says Mike Evans Hip Injury Not Serious in 49ers Win

SANTA CLARA — San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans exited in the second half of Sunday's 35-13 victory with a hip injury, avoiding what the team views as a serious issue. Evans was listed as questionable to return after departing with San Francisco leading 35-6, and he did not re-enter as the 49ers closed out the win.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said postgame the removal was precautionary and tied to the lopsided score, noting Evans could have returned in a closer game. "No, it didn't [look serious]," Shanahan said postgame, via Nick Wagoner of ESPN. "It can always change tomorrow, but if the game was different, he would've been able to come back in." Shanahan emphasized the initial checks were encouraging, though the picture could evolve overnight.

Shanahan also confirmed two additional injuries, stating wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. each sustained high-ankle sprains. Both players will be monitored after the diagnoses, which came as San Francisco managed its roster late in the comfortable 35-13 result with Evans sidelined for the final stretch.
