ARLINGTON — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be shorthanded for Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, ruling out quarterback Baker Mayfield and three defensive starters for the Week 5 matchup at AT&T Stadium. Tampa Bay, still searching for its first win of the season, will turn to rookie Jalon Daniels for his second consecutive start when the teams kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Tampa Bay released its final injury report Wednesday and listed Mayfield (right thumb), safety Antoine Winfield Jr., cornerback Benjamin Morrison and linebacker SirVocea Dennis (ankle/foot) as out. Mayfield continues to recover from his right thumb injury, while Winfield is set to begin an expected two-to-four-week absence after sustaining a slight rib fracture against Green Bay.
There was encouraging news for Tampa Bay. Rookie outside linebacker Rueben Bain Jr. (groin/shoulder) was a full participant throughout the week and carries no game designation, putting him in line to return Thursday night. Kicker Chase McLaughlin (right groin/hip) was a full participant Wednesday after missing Tuesday's walkthrough, while tight end Ko Kieft and linebacker Josiah Trotter were also full participants Wednesday. Outside linebacker Anthony Nelson remained limited with an illness but was not given a game designation.
Dallas will also be without three players, ruling out cornerback Cobie Durant, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring) and tackle Drew Shelton. Guard Tyler Smith (thumb) was a full participant but is listed as questionable, while wide receiver Johnathan Mingo, who did not practice, is also listed as questionable for the prime-time matchup.
