CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson has rewritten franchise history, passing Shayne Graham for the most consecutive field goals made in team history with 22 straight. The record came on a 26-yard field goal late in the Week 5 contest against the Miami Dolphins to ice the game.

Cincinnati was deep in Miami territory after Jonathan Allen recovered a fumble from Malik Willis. The drive stalled, and with two minutes remaining head coach Zac Taylor sent McPherson out for the attempt. He connected to move ahead of Graham, his mentor and fellow Florida Gator, for the team mark. The streak dates back to last season and follows McPherson's NFL rookie record of 14-of-14 on field goal attempts in the 2021 postseason.

McPherson was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September after a perfect three games and has continued the streak into October. He is 5-of-5 on 50-plus-yard attempts this season and perfect on extra points, with makes from 50, 57 and 58 yards. The 26-yarder against Miami was his only field goal attempt in that game, a contrast to five attempts from 50-plus yards across the first three contests.

The fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft continues to stand out from a class headlined by Ja'Marr Chase at No. 6 overall, while the 2020 class featured Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins with its first two picks. After a tough 2024 season that ended prematurely with an injury, McPherson put together a strong season last year and an impressive preseason. With attention often on Burrow, Chase, Higgins and the defense, McPherson has become a key factor in Cincinnati's push toward the postseason.
