CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears placed starting left tackle Braxton Jones on the Reserve/Injured list on Saturday after he hurt his knee in the team's Monday night win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Jones did not participate in practice all week, and under NFL rules teams can designate up to eight players to return from injured reserve, making Jones eligible to return after missing four games if able.

Head coach Ben Johnson already announced that Theo Benedet will get the start at left tackle for tomorrow's game against the New York Jets. Ozzy Trapilo, who ended last year as the Bears' starting left tackle, isn't quite game-ready yet as he works back from his own knee injury, though Trapilo has been a full participant at practice the last couple of weeks and is close to a return.

Jones has been one of the league's most efficient pass protectors through four weeks. His 2.4% pressure rate ranked eighth-best among all offensive tackles, just ahead of teammate Darnell Wright, whose 2.6% rate ranked tenth.

Chicago also elevated two practice squad players for the Jets game: defensive lineman Marcus Davenport and cornerback Nick McCloud. Both elevations are standard gameday moves and the players will revert to the practice squad after the game.
