NEW YORK — The New York Knicks have bolstered their backcourt depth by signing veteran guard John Konchar to a one-year contract. The agreement, first reported by ESPN and confirmed by the player's representatives, brings the Knicks to 14 standard contracts as the team approaches the second apron threshold.
Konchar, a seven-year league veteran, joins the organization with a career average of 4.3 points per game and a 34.9% success rate from 3-point range. Last season, the 6'5" guard split time between the Utah Jazz and the Memphis Grizzlies, where he maintained a rebounding average of 4.3 per game.
While the terms of the deal are reported to be non-guaranteed, the move provides the Knicks with additional veteran presence. The team is also evaluating their frontcourt options, having signed veteran big man Drew Eubanks to a training camp deal, according to reports from SNY.TV.
