Suns Sign and Waive David Stockton in Training Camp Move

PHOENIX — Former Gonzaga point guard David Stockton signed a training camp deal with the Phoenix Suns and was waived soon after on Friday, Sept. 18, RotoWire reports. The transaction clears the way for the 35-year-old son of Hall of Famer John Stockton to rejoin the Valley Suns, Phoenix's G League affiliate, this fall.

Stockton last appeared in an NBA contest with the Utah Jazz in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Houston Rockets on May 4, 2018. The nine-year G League veteran has averaged 16.3 points, 6.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 29.5 minutes across 244 career games, including 185 starts.

He last played for the Valley Suns during the 2024-25 season. His G League resume dating to 2014 also includes stints with the Indiana Pacers' Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Memphis Grizzlies' Memphis Hustle, the Los Angeles Lakers' South Bay Lakers and the Sacramento Kings' Reno Bighorns, now the Stockton Kings.

The Valley Suns are led by general manager Brendan Sabean, a former Gonzaga student manager. Throughout his professional career, Stockton has also had international stops in Croatia, Australia, Germany and Puerto Rico.
