Stephen Curry, Warriors Agree to $116M Two-Year Extension

SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year, $116 million contract extension that includes a player option ahead of the 2028-29 season. The deal will begin at $55.7 million for the 2027-28 season and represents a discount of approximately $20 million from the $136.7 million Curry was eligible to receive over two years on a maximum extension.

Curry is set to earn $62.6 million this season on the one-year extension he signed in August 2024. The new agreement keeps him under contract for two additional seasons beyond that, while the reduced annual value preserves flexibility for Golden State. The Warriors could have significant cap space during the 2027 offseason as they weigh roster construction around their longtime guard.

Health was a central backdrop to the negotiations. Curry missed significant time last season due to knee pain and swelling, appearing in just 43 games. Even with the limited availability, he continued to rank among the NBA's most productive guards when on the floor, a factor that kept Golden State committed to an extension now rather than risking uncertainty later.

The Warriors presented Curry with a number of different deal types ranging from max contracts to discounted salaries. He was also given the option of waiting into the season or even until the 2027 offseason when the franchise's viable paths would become more clear. The final structure is similar to Kawhi Leonard's two-year, $115 million extension with the Toronto Raptors signed this month that covers the same two additional seasons.
