NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans and forward Saddiq Bey have agreed to a three-year, $55.5 million contract extension that is fully guaranteed and runs through the summer of 2030, his agents at Excel Sports Management told Shams Charania of ESPN.
The deal is a significant raise for Bey, 27, who is set to make $6.4 million this season in the final year of his current contract. The extension carries an average annual salary of $18.5 million, a figure slightly above the current mid-level exception but in line with his production last season. The contract is fully guaranteed and includes a trade kicker, giving New Orleans a tradable salary slot if needed.
Bey is coming off the best season of his career after missing the previous season with a torn ACL suffered before he could debut following his trade to New Orleans in the 2025 offseason. He averaged 17.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season, opening the year on the bench before then-coach Willie Green moved him into the starting lineup by the eighth game. He took on more offense while maintaining career-best efficiency at 36.7% from 3-point range and a .579 true shooting percentage.
Bey had been a rock-solid role player for the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks before the move to New Orleans. The extension also reunites him long-term with Pelicans general manager Troy Weaver, who drafted Bey out of Villanova when Weaver was with the Pistons. If Bey continues at that level for new Pelicans coach Jamahl Mosley, the deal projects as strong value for both sides.
