TORONTO — The Toronto Raptors' trade to acquire Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers is expected to proceed as originally agreed for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two unprotected first-round picks and a pick swap. The deal has been on hold pending the NBA's investigation into alleged cap circumvention by the Clippers, with Leonard receiving only a fine and no suspension.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported Monday night that the deal, originally agreed to in June, remains on track to be completed without amendment. "As of now we have no lawsuit or any reaction formally from the Clippers," Windhorst said, adding the team has "not made any statement in days." Tim MacMahon noted the Clippers "made two pretty loud statements in the immediate aftermath," while Windhorst said, "In talking to people, I think that trade is going to go through as is."
The delay reflects the league's review process, with formalization paused until the investigation concluded. With no suspension issued, Toronto remains comfortable executing the trade at its initial price, preserving the agreed structure of players and draft compensation.
If completed as constructed, the deal would send Leonard to Toronto and provide Los Angeles with young talent and future picks. Windhorst said "your word is important" in the NBA, indicating both sides intend to honor the June agreement without alteration.
