TORONTO — Malachi Smith and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a Two-Way contract, converting the training camp deal he signed with the franchise in August. The agreement secures the 6-foot-4 guard's place in Toronto's program after he went undrafted in 2023 out of Gonzaga and worked to establish himself at the professional level.
Smith appeared in 15 games last season with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 23.9 minutes. His NBA opportunity followed heavy G League usage, where he appeared in 39 games and averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 28.7 minutes, carrying a larger offensive load while maintaining playmaking production.
The Two-Way contract keeps Smith eligible to move between Toronto and its G League affiliate while competing for NBA minutes. Toronto adds a guard who has already shown he can score and distribute in both settings, and Smith gets continued continuity after his August camp deal turned into a formal two-way agreement.
