TORONTO — Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a two-year, $115 million extension that includes a player option for the 2028-29 season. The deal gives Leonard $165 million over the next three seasons and locks in his future in Toronto shortly after his arrival.
Leonard was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Raptors this month for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two future first-round picks and a pick swap. He was eligible to sign for up to $126 million over two years, agreeing to a figure slightly below the maximum allowable extension.
The extension secures Toronto's investment after paying a significant trade package to acquire the star forward. With the new money added to his existing contract, Leonard is now under team control through 2028-29 if he exercises the player option.
