ERIE — Roberto Campos and Thayron Liranzo homered late as the Erie SeaWolves surged past the Phils 6-3 on Friday to even the series at two games apiece. Erie trailed early, broke through with three runs in the seventh, answered a tying homer and pulled away with long balls in the eighth and ninth.
Left-hander Joe Miller allowed a run in the bottom of the first and then locked down the Phils over the next five frames, while veteran lefty Adam Seminaris scattered five hits without a walk over six scoreless innings. Erie finally broke through in the seventh when Campos singled and Seth Stephenson walked, both advancing on a wild pitch before Viandel Pena lifted a sacrifice fly to score Campos. Patrick Lee and Peyton Graham walked to load the bases, and Woody Hadeen pulled a ground ball through the right side for a two-run single and a 3-1 lead before E.J. Exposito was hit by a pitch and Liranzo lined into a double play that caught Hadeen off second.
Zane Barnhart took over from Miller and walked former Tigers farmhand Austin Murr with one out before Nick Biddison cracked a two-run shot to tie it 3-3. Campos answered immediately with a solo homer over the wall in left in the top of the eighth to make it 4-3, and Yosber Sanchez struck out two in a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth. Exposito walked with two outs in the top of the ninth and Liranzo mashed a two-run homer to left-center to stretch the lead to 6-3.
Moises Rodriguez closed it with two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to earn the save. Stephenson stole two bases to reach 65 on the year, tying teammate Peyton Graham for the team lead. The series is knotted at two games apiece heading into a 6:45 p.m. ET start on Saturday.
