HOUSTON — Houston Astros center fielder Daulton Varsho underwent left arthroscopic wrist surgery the previous day and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, the team announced this week. The procedure sidelines the outfielder as he approaches free agency at the end of the season.

Varsho's time with Houston was unremarkable after arriving at the deadline. He batted .172 in 41 games spanning 151 at-bats, hitting 5 home runs with 14 RBIs while posting a .224 on-base percentage and a .535 OPS.

It was recently revealed that Varsho had been dealing with a wrist issue since before the Astros acquired him and was attempting to play through it. Eventually, the discomfort became too much to tolerate, necessitating the arthroscopic procedure.

With free agency looming at season's end, it is unlikely Varsho will be a member of the Astros in 2027 following the abbreviated, injury-affected stint.
