MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers secured a postseason berth for the eighth time in nine seasons on Friday, dominating the Cincinnati Reds in a 20-0 victory at American Family Field. The win brings the club closer to a National League Central title, as they currently hold a 10-game lead over the Chicago Cubs with a magic number of three.
The Brewers' offense overwhelmed Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott early, scoring eight runs across the first two innings. Brice Turang contributed a three-run home run, while Jake Bauers added a two-run shot to support starting pitcher Dustin May. The scoring continued in the fifth inning, where Milwaukee tallied eight runs against reliever Luis Mey, highlighted by a grand slam from Garrett Mitchell.
Milwaukee’s roster features right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, who leads the major leagues with 236 strikeouts, alongside second-year starter Logan Henderson. The everyday lineup remains anchored by All-Star second baseman Turang and leadoff hitter Jackson Chourio. First baseman Jake Bauers has also been a key contributor, recording 25 home runs and an NL-best .395 on-base percentage.
