SACRAMENTO — The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Athletics 4-2, jumping to an early lead behind solo home runs from Josh Smith and Kazuma Okamoto in the second inning and holding on for the road victory.

Smith and Okamoto each homered in the second to stake Toronto to a 2-0 advantage. The Blue Jays added two more in the sixth when Nathan Lukes, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk opened the inning with consecutive singles, with Lukes scoring on Kirk's single as Toronto plated a pair in the frame.

The sequence highlighted a balanced offensive approach, with early power setting the tone before Toronto manufactured runs with contact. Stringing three straight singles to start the sixth allowed the Blue Jays to apply pressure without relying on extra-base hits and extend the margin to 4-2.

The result gives Toronto continued momentum as it navigates the late-season schedule, with contributions from both the middle of the order and supporting bats. For the Athletics, limiting damage after the early homers kept the game within reach, but the sixth-inning rally proved decisive.
