NEW YORK — Phil Mickelson recently checked himself into a facility seeking "treatment for family trauma and addiction," a representative told TMZ Sports, according to a new report from the outlet. The report said he has already completed his stay.
Mickelson stepped away from competition earlier this year. On Feb. 1, he announced he would miss the first two LIV Golf events of the season to deal with a family health matter. He returned to play LIV Golf South Africa in the middle of March, but on April 2 he announced he would miss the Masters and an extended period of time to "navigate a personal health matter."
Since the event in South Africa, he has not played competitively. In June, Skratch published an exclusive feature detailing allegations against Mickelson of past misconduct, including lewd language and unwanted advances.
Mickelson's future in golf remains cloudy. With LIV's existence hanging in the balance, his eventual return to the sport is uncertain.
