LONDON — The DP World Tour will not allow LIV Golf players who remain in the league's new iteration to compete in its tournaments in 2027, a decision that would prevent Ryder Cup eligibility, per report. The move follows a season in which the circuit granted conditional releases that permitted LIV Golf players to participate in DP World Tour events.
Under the updated approach for 2027, players still competing in the new version of LIV Golf will not be permitted to enter DP World Tour tournaments. The change ends the conditional-release arrangement that had kept a pathway open for LIV players to maintain DP World Tour status during the most recent season.
Without access to DP World Tour events, those players would be unable to satisfy the eligibility requirements for the European Ryder Cup team in 2027. Per the report, the restriction applies specifically to players who continue in the new LIV Golf structure, closing the route that conditional releases had previously provided and making continued LIV participation incompatible with DP World Tour membership in 2027.
