PONTE VEDRA BEACH — Blades Brown turned a near-miss into a milestone Sunday, finishing second in the final Korn Ferry Tour event of the season to lock up a PGA Tour card for 2027 and set the record as the youngest player to earn a card via graduation from the Korn Ferry Tour. The 19-year-old, who squandered a fourth 54-hole lead of the season, still secured fifth place in the season-long Korn Ferry Tour race to earn his promotion.

Brown, who turned pro at just 17, has been a familiar name on the Korn Ferry Tour the last two seasons while sprinkling in PGA Tour starts. Asked before he moved into contention this weekend whether his accomplishments at such a young age resonate, he said, "I mean, a little bit. One thing I know is I always tell my dad the golf ball doesn't care how old I am. The golf ball doesn't know if you're 60 years old or 19 years old, so I would say that."

Consistency carried him. Brown made 16 of 18 cuts on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2026 and finished in the top 10 five times, never winning but keeping his floor extremely high. Between those 18 starts, he made 11 starts on the PGA Tour, making nine cuts and finishing in the top 20 seven times. He even earned Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour for the rest of the season, but opted to continue chasing the path via its feeder tour.

Finishing fifth in the Korn Ferry Tour standings gives Brown decent status when the 2027 season begins, though he may sit on the border of alternate status for some of the more desired West Coast events like the Phoenix Open. He will still be 19 when the PGA Tour resumes next spring and will remain a teenager until next year's PGA Championship, with his high floor established and his ceiling still to be tested. The breakthrough follows Blades Brown's historic run as the youngest Korn Ferry graduate.
