LONDON — Formula 3 runner-up and Audi Formula 1 junior Freddie Slater will step up to Formula 2 with Invicta Racing in 2027, confirming the next stage of his progression through the junior single-seater ladder.

Slater, the 2024 Italian F4 champion and 2025 Formula Regional European champion, was signed by Audi to spearhead its new Driver Development Programme in 2026. The appointment coincided with his move to F3 with Trident, placing the British driver at the forefront of Audi's junior structure as the manufacturer builds toward its Formula 1 project.

With Trident in Formula 3, Slater delivered a run of four consecutive feature-race podiums that saw him snatch the lead of the championship. The streak highlighted his consistency and race execution during the season, which ultimately ended with a runner-up finish in the standings.

The switch to Invicta Racing for 2027 puts Slater with one of the Formula 2 grid's established front-running operations. The move represents the final step before Formula 1 and keeps his development firmly within the Audi pathway as he prepares for the championship directly below the top tier.
