LONDON — The 2027 Formula 1 grid is taking shape, with the top teams locking down driver pairings and the midfield order becoming clearer. McLaren have reigning world champion Lando Norris tied until 2030 after a new deal ahead of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, while teammate Oscar Piastri remains under a long-term contract until the end of 2028.

Mercedes have not confirmed the exact length of the extensions signed by George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for 2026, though Crash.net understands both are multi-year deals that include various clauses kept under wraps. Toto Wolff has already confirmed Russell will stay for 2027, with Antonelli expected to earn a bumper new deal if he lifts a maiden title this year. Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Max Verstappen ended speculation by signing an extension with Red Bull until at least 2030, beyond his previous 2028 expiry, while teammate Isack Hadjar has been retained for 2027 after a strong start to life at the team.

Ferrari secured Charles Leclerc on a bumper multi-year extension in June 2026, ending rumours he could exit at the end of 2026 or 2027 if the Scuderia failed to produce a championship-winning car. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes for 2025 and has bounced back from a nightmare 2025 in fine form this season, admitted earlier this year he has a contract in place for 2027. At Williams, Alex Albon signed a one-year extension covering 2027 and Carlos Sainz penned a multi-year deal.

At Red Bull's sister team Racing Bulls, Liam Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad are only contracted for the 2026 season. Lindblad is expected to stay for 2027, while Lawson's position is less secure, especially with Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov leading the Formula 2 championship. Fernando Alonso, now 45, is out of contract at the end of 2026 and it remains to be seen if the two-time world champion will continue, while Lance Stroll is effectively on a rolling contract with the team owned by his father Lawrence, though Aston Martin officially have no drivers signed for 2027 and beyond.

Both Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman see their Haas contracts expire at the end of 2026, with Bearman likely to continue his loan arrangement from Ferrari while Ocon is under pressure to keep his drive. At Audi, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are on multi-year deals of undisclosed length and, while neither is officially confirmed for 2027, both are expected to stay. Alpine has Pierre Gasly tied through the end of 2028 and has retained Franco Colapinto for a third season at Enstone with an extension for 2027. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez penned multi-year deals when they signed for F1's newest team last summer and it is understood both contracts cover the 2027 season on the same terms.
