MONZA — Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc has given fresh insight into the aftermath of his Italian Grand Prix crash, explaining that the vision problem he experienced was “very short”. Leclerc lost control of his car at high speed on lap two of the race at Monza, slamming into the barriers at the exit of Parabolica in an incident that marked his third retirement of the 2026 season.

The Monegasque was cleared from the medical checks following the heavy impact, with Leclerc addressing concerns about his eyesight in the moments after the crash. He stressed the issue was very short in duration, indicating the disturbance did not persist beyond the immediate aftermath at the circuit.

The lap-two retirement ended Leclerc’s race at Monza after just two laps, adding a third retirement to his 2026 season tally following the high-speed loss of control at Parabolica. No further medical details were provided beyond his own assessment that the vision problem was brief.
