MADRID — Andrea Kimi Antonelli extended his Formula 1 drivers' championship lead to 81 points with victory at the Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring. The Mercedes driver tightened his grip on the world title with his eighth victory of the 2026 season.

Mercedes teammate George Russell could only manage fifth place after pitting twice and starting seventh. Lewis Hamilton failed to finish a race for the first time this year, a result that leaves him 101 points behind Antonelli and all but ends his faint hopes of an eighth world title.

Lando Norris continued his strong form with a podium finish in third place. The result moves Norris to within five points of third-placed Hamilton in the drivers' standings.

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen round out the top five in the championship following the Spanish Grand Prix. The full drivers' standings follow the Madrid round.
