LONDON — Following Conor Benn’s second-round stoppage loss to WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia earlier this month, four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. has publicly assessed the British fighter's prospects for securing a world title. Despite Benn’s recent status as a mandatory challenger, Jones Jr. expressed skepticism regarding his championship potential.

“He’s not gonna be a world champion, no,” Jones Jr. told Parimatch. “But he’s gonna make a lot of money for what he’s doing. A lot of guys will wish they had that same fate. He’s fortunate enough to have a situation where he can fight two more top-level fights.”

Benn’s path to the title fight included an April victory against Regis Prograis in a 150lb catchweight bout. Jones Jr. advised the Briton to prioritize financial security over further championship pursuits, specifically suggesting a trilogy fight against Chris Eubank Jr. “If I were him, I would just come back and run the Chris Eubank trilogy, for one. Then I’d get one more fight, and I’d be through with it. For him, make the money and be gone. That’s the best thing,” Jones Jr. added.

Eubank Jr., who has not competed since his loss to Benn last November, remains a focal point of the division's narrative. While Eubank has been linked to potential bouts with Kell Brook and Michael Zerafa, his career remains a subject of ongoing industry speculation.
