BERLIN — Heavyweight contender Nelson Hysa has issued a public ultimatum to WBC champion Agit Kabayel, claiming he has already signed a contract for a title fight and is waiting for the champion to do the same. Hysa, 42, has demanded that Kabayel finalize the agreement by the end of the day, threatening to make the document public if the champion fails to respond.
“Agit, I don’t want to play and I don’t want to waste time with you,” Hysa stated via social media. “The contract is in my hand. Since you wanted the facts, this is the contract signed by me. So sign the contract within 24 hours. If you don’t, I’ll make the contract public so everyone can see who hasn’t signed.”
Kabayel, 34, was elevated to full WBC champion in June following the vacancy of belts by Oleksandr Usyk. While promoter Frank Warren recently indicated that they were moving on from negotiations with Hysa, the challenger maintains that a deal is ready to be finalized. Kabayel is expected to return to Germany later this year for his first title defense, with future aspirations including potential unification bouts against the likes of Filip Hrgovic.
