CHICAGO — Floyd Schofield has extended an open invitation to Gervonta Davis for a future world title challenge, provided Schofield emerges victorious in his upcoming bout against Lucas Bahdi. The two fighters are scheduled to compete for the vacant WBA lightweight championship at the Wintrust Arena on Saturday, October 10.

Davis, 31, was recently stripped of his WBA lightweight title due to inactivity dating back to March 2025 and has been designated as the organization's 'champion-in-recess.' Speaking to Fight Hub TV, the 24-year-old Schofield expressed his willingness to grant Davis an immediate opportunity to reclaim the belt. "If Tank did want to come back and was like, 'I want that fight and I want that belt back,' I have no problem with it because he is the so-called boogeyman," Schofield said.

Schofield emphasized the prestige associated with facing the Baltimore native, noting that a victory over Davis would carry significant weight in the division. "If you get Tank on your record, if you beat Tank, then there is not a lot that people can say," he added. The October 10 event in Chicago also features Ricardo Sandoval, who is set to defend his unified WBC and WBA flyweight world titles against Sergio Mendoza Cordova in the co-main event.
